"New York Is Not Ready For The iPhone"

That is according to there 'customer service' department.

According to some reports, AT&T has apparently stopped selling the iPhone in New York City.
If you listen to certain customer service representatives, it's because "New York is not ready for the iPhone."
It may not be all that cut and dried, however.
