We are used to seeing extinct species as drawings or fossils.
However, there are plenty of species, including quite a few birds, that
have gone the way of the dodo (literally) in the 180 years since the
invention of photography. Seeing these birds as they really were makes
you think about how extinction goes on today right under our noses.
Shown is a laughing owl, photographed over a hundred years ago.
