A Mammoth Undertaking

Scientists have cast new light on what may have caused the woolly mammoth to become extinct, about four thousand years ago.
Until now, humans have been blamed for hunting the mammoth out of existence, but a new study by the Royal Society suggests the main factor was probably climate change.

Researchers believe the grass on which the mammoths fed became scarce because of the cold.
