You
might not think of Greenland, most of which is covered by an ice cap,
as an ideal place to warm up. But you might want to try the warm waters
of Uunartoq, an island
off the southwestern coast. There are
three hot spring-fed pools
on the island which reach temperatures of 100-140°F. Norse explorers
discovered them at least a thousand years ago and put them to good use
in that frozen territory. The US Geological Survey says that the springs
are
not of volcanic origin, but are most likely due to crust friction.
