Police in western Pennsylvania are searching for the man they say
flashed a store owner, then robbed her, taking money and women's
clothing.
Richland Township police, just east of Johnstown, Cambria County, are
investigating the theft at the King and Queen Shoppe.
It's a robbery unlike any other Richland Township Police Det. Kevin
Guadlip said he's investigated.
"We have unique circumstances here," Guadlip said. "Clearly to me, with
what occurred there and the time spent there, we're looking for a
specific type of offender. This was more than just your typical
robbery."
At around 4pm on Tuesday, Guadlip said a man walked into the store in
the East Hills Plaza with his genitals exposed.
Not knowing what to do, Guadlip said the store owner helped him look for women's clothing. "The proprietor helped him with the clothing selection and then at the point where she was going to ring up the transaction, he ordered her to open the cash register," Guadlip said. Police said she complied, giving the man the cash he wanted. Investigators said the man also took a woman's outfit with him, a large skirt and a purple lace-trimmed blazer, and they think he may be giving it as a gift.
Police are calling it a strong-arm robbery because they said the man
didn't use a weapon, but used force when he allegedly pushed her.
Police are looking for a man in his 50s with salt and pepper colored
hair and facial hair. He's a man they said the owner has seen before.
“She knows her customers and he’s not a past customer, but he had been
in the store on prior occasions,” Guadlip said.
They’re not only asking for anyone who saw anything to give them a call,
police said, but also for anyone who may get such a gift.
