Giant rubber duck victim of earthquake

A giant rubber duck art installation fell victim to a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Taiwan on Thursday.
Workers in Taoyuan county tried to re-inflate the duck, the work of Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, after its air pump malfunctioned during Thursday's earthquake in Taiwan.

But the artwork had suffered too many tears and leaks thanks to high winds, and it collapsed onto the surface of the lake where it had been installed. Some Taiwanese residents were so upset, they called for a 10 second silence to commemorate the duck.

Officials soon came to the rescue however, with the bright idea of moving the 59 foot inflatable onto dry land. Taiwan's Central News Agency reported it would take seven to 10 days to completely repair the duck, but by Saturday afternoon it was looking plump and healthy on its new land-base.
