Woman charged with DUI after driving through wall of building into pool
Charges have been filed against a Knoxville woman who authorities say
drove her truck through a wall and into a pool at the National Fitness
Center.
Melissa Rich, 48, drove her Dodge Dakota into the National Fitness Center/Court South just before 6:30pm on Saturday evening.
Employees helped her out of the truck and the pool. No one was hurt, but she was taken to UT Medical Center as a precaution.
According to the arrest report, Rich had a strong odour of alcohol on
her breath, and told officers she had consumed two beers and five shots
of whiskey prior to the incident. Officers found a nearly empty whiskey bottle in the console of her truck.There was significant damage to the building.
