Volcanic News

Mount Tavurvur erupted to 60,000 feet Friday, forcing planes to re-route from Australia and evacuations of local communities.
If the big volcano, which last erupted 640,000 years ago, were to blow up again, it would spew enough ash to send particles as far away as New York City.
Cauldrons forming near Iceland's Bardarbunga volcano suggest an eruption under the ice has already taken place.
