Computers have been around a long time:
exactly how long depends on how you define “computer.” However, the
development of computers took off big time in the past 100 years. Before
transistors, they were incredibly massive, and before microchips they
were too big for home use. Now just about everyone carries one around in
their pocket. We’ve come a long way, baby. Dark Roasted Blend takes
a look back at some of the famous early supercomputers
-at least the ones that were photographed. Shown above is an IBM model
from the 1960s that stored data on reels of tape. Yes, all that is one
computer.
