A 23-year-old Submarine House employee said one of her frequent customers saw people walking what they said was a dog they found in Dayton’s Oregon District and intended to keep. The man called Miller after seeing a flier she had placed describing the husky and offering the unusual reward. Zoro’s picture and description matched the dog he had seen. She found Zoro at the home the man described.
She posted the fliers about three days after Zoro went missing. Miller said she offered the beer and cigarettes because it was something she could afford and figured it would be an incentive that would attract attention. Miller said she found Zoro at the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center three years ago and immediately bonded with the furry creature she considers a spirit animal. Zoro has an undeniable calming presence, she said.
