Woman reunited with dog after offering beer and cigarettes as reward

Abigail Miller of Dayton, Ohio put up fliers offering a case of beer and a pack of cigarettes for the return of her lost dog. And it worked. Miller was reunited with her ‘spirit animal’ Zoro on Sunday, 10 days after he escaped from her yard.

A 23-year-old Submarine House employee said one of her frequent customers saw people walking what they said was a dog they found in Dayton’s Oregon District and intended to keep. The man called Miller after seeing a flier she had placed describing the husky and offering the unusual reward. Zoro’s picture and description matched the dog he had seen. She found Zoro at the home the man described.
The Good Samaritan didn’t want the reward, but Miller said she plans to treat him to some food. Miller said Zoro and her other dog escaped through a gate on Jan. 2. She found the other dog, Ajna, at a local animal shelter a few days after the escape, but Zoro was no where to be found. “I was so worried about him,” Miller said.

She posted the fliers about three days after Zoro went missing. Miller said she offered the beer and cigarettes because it was something she could afford and figured it would be an incentive that would attract attention. Miller said she found Zoro at the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center three years ago and immediately bonded with the furry creature she considers a spirit animal. Zoro has an undeniable calming presence, she said.
