Allegedly intoxicated 12-year-old driver crashed car during police pursuit

A 12-year-old boy is facing several charges after he allegedly led police on a chase while intoxicated in Austin, Texas, before crashing on Monday morning.
An officer initially tried to stop the boy, who has not been identified, when the officer saw him nearly strike a cyclist. According to police, he was driving recklessly before he hit a pick-up with two people inside.
Nobody was injured in that crash, but police say the boy did not stop to render aid. The boy, who was alone in the vehicle, then slammed into a pole and flipped over at around 7:45am.
The boy was taken to Dell Children's with minor injuries. He faces charges that include driving while intoxicated, evading arrest and failure to stop and render aid.
