It has been so well-received that many schools include it in their curricula.Now, in what is likely an opening salvo in the coming attack on Cap & Trade legislation, wing nut front-man Glenn Beck is attacking "The Story of Stuff" as socialist propaganda, saying that it is un-American.
Beck says, "The reason why America is not as happy as it was in 1950 or 1920 or whenever, 100 years ago, is because our priorities are wrong, but it has nothing to do with exploiting the planet and has everything to do with losing faith in god."
This is dangerous - another insidious slithering of the snake that is christianity attempting to pervert all around it.

So now that we’ve established to some degree what fascism is, how do we fight it? Well, first and foremost, we do not fight it by begging the Democratic Party to “move to the left” and “get tough.” That’s been, historically speaking, a recipe for disaster. Organizations such as the Southern Poverty Law Center, which rely upon the cops and courts have a woefully inadequate analysis of what fascism is, and thus are completely unprepared to fight it. Fascism cannot be fought using cops and courts. [...]
They [fascists] cannot, and should not be debated or provided with a platform to spew their filth. They should be met with overwhelming physical force and run out of town on a rail. The early days of the Anti-Nazi League in Britain (before they were co-opted by the Socialist Workers’ Party of Great Britain- the co-thinkers of the grotesque, pro-cop reformists of the International Socialist Organization) provides a great example of how to respond when the fascists- of whatever brand- want to show up in your city. A better model are Labor/Black Mobilizations against the Klan and, more recently, the Minutemen.
Because fascism is, in the final analysis, a cowardly movement. But like a coward, it needs to be confronted with sufficient force to get it to crawl back into the slime-filled hole from whence it came. A thousand screaming trade unionists, Black activists, and militant anti-fascist youth (possibly armed with such rudimentary and legal weapons as small baseball bats, bike chains, and sawed off pool cues) should be sufficient to spook any mob of racist thugs right the fuck out of town. But, unfortunately, this is only enough to deal with the foot soldiers on the ground. Defeating fascism ultimately means building a political movement to destroy the economic and social system which makes fascism a viable alternative in the first place.

Former Major Leaguer Chuck Knoblauch Charged With Assault
Former All-Star and World Series champion Chuck Knoblauch has seen better days. Since retiring, Knoblauch was named on the notorious Mitchell Report as a player who partook in the use of illegal performance-enhancing drugs, and he has since admitted as much. Now, he's been charged with assaulting his common-law wife.Knoblauch faced the court Tuesday and was charged, following a criminal complaint filed by his wife (pictured here with Knoblauch and their son, Jake). In the complaint, she said he hit her in the face and choked her during a dispute in their Houston-area home.
Knoblauch will be released upon posting a $10,000 bond.
Knoblauch was a four-time All-Star in his 12 major league seasons. He won three World Series as a member of the New York Yankees' dynasty, but his best on-field work was done with the Twins. From 1994-1996 he was one of the best players in baseball. It was a span in which he hit .330 with a .422 on-base percentage and 126 stolen bases. He finished in the top 20 in MVP voting in each of those years.
Late in Knoblauch's career, he was plagued by several mental issues, most famously his inability to make an accurate throw to first base on routine grounders. He eventually was moved to the outfield and then retired from baseball at the relatively young age of 34.

On the other hand, maybe it's a question of perspective: There are really almost no jobs that don't, in some way, contribute to society as a whole.
