Saved a child's life? Bad Catholic!
Excerpt:
In case all that's not repugnant enough by itself, consider one more thing: Archbishop Sobrinho has apparently
And Archbishop Cardoso Sobrinho has also made it clear that he's not saying the little girl is excommunicated!
What kind of a monster do you take him for? Surely, in this case, God's law doesn't mean what God's law says!
It only means what it says when I say it does, dummy! I guess it's safe to assume that in Archbishop Sobrinho's
interpretation of Catholic doctrine, presuming to speak for God is somehow wholly unrelated to the sin of pride.
made no mention of the girl's stepfather, who's confessed to raping her. People who helped save a little girl from
physical and emotional suffering, and possibly death? Bad Catholics! God disapproves! Child rapists, on the other hand?

You're Overqualified
Los Gatos resident Doug Horan, 62, with degrees in physics and business administration, has applied for more than 1,000 jobs over the past 18 months.
After a promising in-person interview last week, he received a call back and was told, "You don't fit with our culture."
Hey, all I get is the 'You're overqualified' speech.
Cattle in southeast Texas have high incidence of DNA damage.
Scientists have found a link to large factories that emit toxic substances.
For 200 years, Randy Mumme’s family has raised cattle on the same plot of southeast Texas land. then, about 10 years ago, something began to change. His steers were losing weight. Cows were miscarrying; one gave birth to a calf with three legs. Many calves were stillborn.
The family’s ranching practices had not changed over the centuries, but the environment had: his ranch is four miles downwind of large industrial plants that spew tons of carcinogens and other toxic substances into the air. Mumme and other ranchers in Point Comfort suspect the factories are contributing to the ill-health of their cattle.
Now scientists have found DNA evidence that suggests the ranchers’ suspicions might be true, heightening concerns about their cattle as well as their own health.
Baseball player traded for bats, dead from overdose
Last year, minor league baseball team the Calgary Vipers traded pitcher John C. Odom to the Laredo Broncos in exchange for 10 maple baseball bats worth $665.
At first, Odom took the odd trade in stride, even joking about his new, embarrassing nickname of Batman. Three weeks after the trade though, he quit.
And six months after that, Odom was dead of an accidental overdose of heroin, methamphetamine, the stimulant benzylpiperazine and alcohol.
Before his death, the bats were bought by Ripley's Believe it or Not for $10,000 that went to the team's children's charity.
From the AP:
Calgary team president Peter Young and Laredo general manager Jose Melendez nearly traded (Odom) for a slugger, but it fell apart. Melendez proposed buying Odom’s contract for $1,000. Young rejected that, saying the Vipers didn’t do cash deals because they made the team look financially unstable.
Bats, though, the Vipers could use. At $665 for 10 bats—made by Prairie Sticks, double-dipped black, 34 inches long, model C243, Laredo agreed to the unusual deal.
“This was not done as a publicity stunt,” said Young, now the Vipers’ director of baseball operations. “I talked to John several times and told him this wasn’t done to embarrass him..."
On June 5 in Amarillo, the “Batman” theme played while Odom warmed up for Laredo, and he tipped his cap to the sound booth. But he was battered for eight runs in 3 1-3 innings and mercilessly taunted by the crowd. (Broncos manager Dan) Shwam went to the mound.
“The chants, the catcalls, they were terrible. I had to get him out of there for his own good. He was falling apart, right in front of our eyes,” Shwam said.

Twenty five years after is was built is was taken timber by timber south bank of the Thames river to build 'The Globe' theater.

Scientists say they have identified an enzyme that helps cancer spread around the body.
Cancer metastasis, where the cancer spreads from its original location, is known to be responsible for 90% of cancer-related deaths.
Institute of Cancer Research scientists have found that an enzyme called LOX is crucial in promoting metastasis, Cancer Cell journal reports.

Warren Buffet says 'Economy fell off a cliff'
Buffett said the nation's leaders need to support President Obama's efforts to repair the economy because fear is dominating Americans' behavior and the economy has basically followed the worst-case scenario he envisioned.
"It's fallen off a cliff," Buffett said today during a live appearance on CNBC. "Not only has the economy slowed down a lot, but people have really changed their habits like I haven't seen."

Bangladesh blocks YouTube
Bangladesh blocked access to the video-sharing site YouTube after it hosted a recording of a tense meeting between the prime minister and army officials following a bloody mutiny by border guards, officials said.
The insurrection last month claimed more than 70 lives, shook the two-month-old government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and raised tensions with the powerful military, which opposed her handling of the incident.
YouTube "has been temporarily blocked in the national interest," said Abbas Faruq, a spokesman for the government's regulatory body that oversees the Internet, theBangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.
Faruq said gateway access to a few other Web sites, like esnips.com, were also being blocked. He would not say when the sites would be unblocked.
Zia Ahmed, the telecommunications commission chairman, defended the decision.
"The government can take any decision to stop any activity that threatens national unity and integrity," Ahmed said.
The audio clip recorded Hasina defending her decision to negotiate with the mutineers while army officials shouted and jeered, drowning her out and preventing her from speaking.
The clip was being posted on blogs and overseas Web sites that cater to Bangladeshis.
Nasrin Sultana, a manager at Access Telecom Bangladesh Limited, one of the country's major Internet providers, said the site was blocked late Sunday because of an audio clip from the March 1 meeting. Officials at Google Inc., YouTube's parent company, could not be immediately reached for comment.
Military officials and others with knowledge of the meeting said the gathering was tense.
The Feb. 26-27 revolt at the Dhaka headquarters of the Bangladesh Rifles, a paramilitary border patrol force commanded by army officers, left senior army officials furious at Hasina for negotiating with the mutineers instead of ordering an army attack.
The mutiny ended through negotiations, with offers of amnesty and a show of military force. But when dozens of bodies — including those of 56 commanding officers — were discovered dumped into shallow graves or sewers on the sprawling compound, the government rescinded the amnesty for those behind the mutiny. Four other army officers are still reported missing, and presumed dead.

There is always more to the story than is let known and that will drive even more inquiries from around the net and this attempt to stop those inquiries will only intensify those inquiries.
At the same time the story is simple: there was a mutiny - people died - mutiny ended. It is the things that go into the story before, during and after that are what is going to be looked into by the net postings.
Mutiny is wrong. Negotiating with mutineers - right or wrong, is still in debate. Trying to stop inquiries never works ... never has and never will. That is evidenced here as we have not followed this story closely before - but we will now.

Americans are proving to the world again why they are such a 'great' people by a return to what made us 'great' in the first place: more attention to our fellow citizens (domestic and world) and their needs, science over screwball religion, education over indoctrination (mainly by that same screwball religion), cooperation over divisiveness, and the list goes on ...
It is wonderful to see America back, again.
We will not allow those that would destroy her from within (read: repugicans) to ever again hold sway over us ... they will forever remain the fringe element they always have been ... just as we would never allow any from without do the same. This is why generations have come seeking our shores so that they too may live as a 'great' people.
