‘Britain’s Atlantis’ found at bottom of the North sea

‘Britain’s Atlantis’ found at bottom of the North sea – a huge undersea world swallowed by the sea in 7000BC
Doggerland was an area of land, now lying beneath the southern North Sea, that connected Great Britain to mainland Europe during and after the last Ice Age. It was then gradually flooded by rising sea levels around 6,500–6,200 BCE.

The Mystery of Why Chattanooga Raised Its Downtown

The oldest buildings in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, have strange things underground. Basements have windows and doors that go nowhere. Most are bricked up, but you can tell what they were. Construction workers have found cut tree stumps eight feet down. Sometime between 1875 and 1905, the entire downtown area was raised up a floor, and the buildings' second floors became their first floor. Unlike some other such towns, you can't explore the abandoned level, because the roads between the buildings were filled in, and the spaces are private property anyway. The strange thing is, city records do not tell us when it happened, or why- although they had reasons. The city had occasional floods and a drainage problem, and then there was yellow fever.
More motivation arrived in the summer of 1878, when yellow fever spread across the Mississippi River basin, striking its victims with jaundiced skin and black vomit, and killing thousands. In Chattanooga, 140 people in the city of 12,000 died.
People at the time didn’t know the true carrier of the disease, Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes, which can spread the Zika virus of today. But Chattanooga’s then-Registrar of Vital Statistics, J. H. Vandeman, was onto something when he wrote: “The more filth, the more yellow fever; the lower the ground, the poorer the drainage and water supply, there you would find this disease the worst.”
Whenever it happened, changing the ground level helped with flooding, sewer function, and general swampiness. Read what we know about Chattanooga's mysterious urban redesign at Atlas Obscura.

McDonald's 'Value Meals' Lack Value

It's McDonald's, of course there is no 'value' in their "value meals".

Missouri students who fight at school could soon receive prison time no matter how old they are

According to the ACLU, “zero-tolerance” policies — such as a felony charge for fighting — lead to the criminalization of students for infractions that should be dealt with in the school rather than by the legal system.

‘Get my work off your walls’

Ivanka Trump is so proud of her status as an art collector that she's made it part of her personal brand. Some of the artists in that collection, however, are less than eager to be used as aesthetic window dressing for the 35-year-old heiress and her Instagram feed.

‘The dark days of the 1930s’

Prince Charles delivered a public address this week where he decried the rise in religious persecution — and many in the U.K. see a thinly veiled swipe at Dumbass Trump in his remarks.
Veiled? Thinly veiled our sweet arse, it is bold and upfront. Prince Charles has a brain unlike the Dumbass and he just put the Dumbass in his place.

But wingnuts are too stupid to realize that fact.
Besides they cannot deal with facts, facts destroy their demented fantasies.

YouTube Star Removed From Delta Flight For Speaking Arabic?
Now there is concern as to whether this story is about a "faked" video and that may well be the case.
However the history of Delta Airlines in regards to discrimination IS well documented with legitimate evidence and "faked" or not this video highlights that history (and current policies) of the airline.

Horses know how to ask for help

When horses face unsolvable problems, they use visual and tactile signals to get human attention and ask for help.

What Happens In The Barn Stays In The Barn

Horses can be pretty silly when they're feeling hoofloose and fancy free, and they get even more squirrely when they have an animal buddy around to join in on the fun.But they won't let just anyone see their playful side, and it seems some horses actually have a super duper silly side they don't even let their humans see- a wearing a chicken as a hat kinda silly side.
Nancy Elwood caught her horse hanging around with one of the chickens and couldn't believe her eyes, but according to the mare in the next stall the two do this sort of stuff all the time- and she wants in on the fun!

What To Do If Attacked By A Mountain Lion

Mountain lion attacks seem like something people who live near the wildcat's natural kingdom would have to deal with on a regular basis, but cougar attacks are extremely rare- there have been fewer than 100 attacks on humans in the western U.S. since 1890. But like many survival tips knowing what to do if attacked by a mountain lion is valuable advice you hope you'll never need but you'll be glad to know if you find yourself facing a cougar attack.
First and foremost you shouldn't run away, because running will only trigger the animal's predatory instincts and make you look like prey.
You're better off standing your ground, making lots of noise and trying to look intimidating, preferably with a big stick or whatever weapon you have on hand.
And if the cougar attacks fight back, because their self preservation instinct is likely to kick in and send them running back to the hills they came from!

Nobody Wins In An Octopus Vs Eel Vs Human Fight

Humans should know better than to get involved in a fight between any wild animals, but an eel vs octopus battle sounds like something even sharks would avoid at all cost! When snorkelers in Hanauma Bay, Oahu came across an underwater scrap between an aggressive moray eel and an octopus they stuck around and filmed the fight, but then the eel set its sights on the cameraman...
National Geographic shared the video online and asked marine biologist George Burgess from the Florida Museum of Natural History for his reactions to the video, which can be summed up in one quote- never piss off a moray eel.
