Police officer crashed patrol car into school office

Police in Thomasville, North Carolina, are trying to figure out what caused a police officer to crash his patrol car into a school early on Tuesday morning.

According to Chief Jeff Insley, at about 2 a.m., a police officer crashed his patrol car into the Assistant Principal’s office of Thomasville High school after responding to a call. Insley said the officer was not injured during the accident but will undergo medical testing to find possible health factors that may have contributed to the accident.

A review of the patrol car’s maintenance records will also be performed. “I think that’s only fair to the officer, and it’s also fair to the community, that we give them an honest and straight forward answer … and not to speculate,” said Insley.

Insley would not share the name of the officer involved, however, he did say the officer had been with the department for two years. School officials are in the process of getting estimates to find out how much it will cost to fix the office.
