History of the Pale Blue Dot

Discovery News has a gallery of photographs of the Earth, taken from various distances, from the 1946 film shot at 65 miles up to Voyager's 1990 image from 4 billion miles away. The image here of the Earth rising over the moon's horizon was taken from around 250,000 miles away, during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. It just happens to be my favorite. More
