In a rare case of its kind, a horse ran after and bit a 51-year-old
woman on the bottom. It is suspected that the horse became wild after it
was bitten by a mad dog (possibly infected by rabies).
Kshetrimayum (O) Bina of New Checkon in Imphal City, the capital of
Manipur in northeastern India, was riding a motorcycle when the horse
suddenly ran after and bit her.
Ksh Bina said that she was returning home after purchasing some
household articles from New Checkon market when the horse suddenly ran
after her
and bit her on the right buttock.
Though the bite did not tear any flesh it left deep teeth marks leading
to profuse bleeding. On seeing the ‘amazing scene’, people in the
neighbourhood rushed in following which the rogue horse galloped off
towards New Checkon Traffic Point.
“The mouth of the horse was already red with blood before it bit me.
Possibly the horse had bitten some animals”, Bina said. Later Bina was
administered a drug purchased from the Dog Care Centre, Konung Mamang.
The horse might have gone wild after it was bitten by a dog infected
with rabies, conveyed Bina as stated by the shopkeeper of the Dog Care
Centre.
