Gardener mystified by strange growth on his potatoes

A mysterious growth has sprouted on a gardener’s potatoes.

And the gardener with over 70 years of experience has never seen anything like it before.

Huw Evans, 87, from Hafan Deg, Pwllheli, said: “I planted the potatoes last July, and about a month ago I noticed four of these things on a twig and three on another. I really haven't a clue what they are.

“I've consulted with some friends and they haven't a clue either, and by the way – I haven't tasted them just in case!"
