Dispute over breaking wind led to assault with frying pans

An argument over flatulence stoked by drugs and alcohol led to an assault with frying pans in Duryea, Pennsylvania on Saturday night. Police responded to a report of domestic violence and found an elderly woman trying to break up a fight between two men in the kitchen of a house.

The two men, ages 23 and 30, whose names were not released, said they got into a fight after arguing over "passing gas and bowel movements," police said. A 23-year-old smacked the other man across the face with a hot frying pan, whacked him with another frying pan and threw a small television at him.
The younger man, who is originally from Texas, had been staying at the home of the 30-year-old man. During the fracas, the younger man suffered hand cuts while the older man had cuts to his ear and head. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. Each man was charged with simple assault and domestic violence offenses.

The older man also faces drug violations after police discovered drug paraphernalia allegedly belonging to him, and both men allegedly admitted to using drugs and drinking earlier in the night. The younger man said the older man was using the drugs heroin and MDMA, also known as "Molly," and pointed police to a baggie containing suspected drugs, police said.
