The Celtic Tradition

The WOMAN OF THE BLACK MOUNTAIN was a druidess and a woman-messenger to Finn MacCumhail and her mountain was Slíab Lúachra. Through the heart of her mountain at Slíab Lúachra flowed a stream and, as Gráine washed her hands therein, there appeared a woman who came with the quickness of a swallow and the liveliness of a weasel and the spiritedness of a blast of wind over bare mountain-tops. It was on her mountain that she attended to three green champion kings in bonds.
