LAPD
Chief Charlie Beck angrily denied having any involvement whatsoever in
the purchase of a $6,000 horse from his daughter for the LAPD's
equestrian unit. But when the LA Times published documents with Beck's signature approving the deal, the chief suddenly “realized” it.
The Times reports that the Board of Police Commissioners
President Steve Soboroff "did not believe the chief intentionally
misled officials so his daughter could profit."
