For the 2004 Monaco Grand Prix, Jaguar's cars were fitted with newly
designed nose cones to promote the film Ocean's Twelve. Diamonds worth
in excess of $300,000 were attached to the nose of each car. If you
think that's crazy, wait for more.
It happened on the first lap. Jaguar driver Christian Klien crashed his
diamond-encrusted F1 car at the Loews Corner. Track safety regulations
prohibited Team Jaguar from searching for the diamond until after the
race ended two hours later. Of course, by the time the Jaguar folks
arrived on the scene, the diamond was long gone. No one knows what happened to it.
