A Latino Immigrant Asked Justice Sotomayor to Dinner - She Accepted

sonyaWhen Francisco Ferrufino, a native of El Salvador living in the United States as a culinary student, told Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor that he would love to cook for her one day, she had just one thing to say in response: Sure.
Sotomayor, the daughter of Puerto Rican immigrants, was visiting the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School last year when Ferrufino extended the invitation. She made good on her acceptance last Friday.
Listen, as a Latino, I’m just letting you know – we love us some Sonia Sotomayor. She’s right up there with Selena Quintanilla in my book.
Sotomayor brought two friends with her for the dinner, including Mexican opera star Carla Dirlikov.
I love seeing Latino excellence.
Sonia Sotomayor’s story is the story of so many immigrants. Her parents wanted the best possible future for their daughter, and look what she accomplished.
I think that attending the dinner was a celebration of that spirit.
