Snowfall has mounted 30 percent in West Antarctica over the
past century, but the extra powder has not spelled good news for the
melting ice sheet.
Right this second, as we type and you read, there are fires
burning underground all over the globe. They're a smoky mess and can
render useless large tracts of land. We didn't start these fires, but
can we put them out?
