The mystery of a bright green pond in Farmington, Utah, has been solved.
The Environmental Protection Agency had closed off Farmington Pond aa there was a concern over toxic chemicals.
They're saying someone dumped a 5 gallon bucket of non-toxic dye.
There is no danger to humans or wildlife.
Now the Davis County Sheriff’s Department wants to find out who did it.
In a statement they said:
"The Davis County Environmental Health Department, Farmington Fire and
Farmington PD have responded to the Farmington Pond on reports that the
water appears to be green in color.
"The Environmental Health Department has run several tests on the water and determined it to be inert, non-toxic dye that was placed in the water. The event is being investigated as a criminal mischief type prank. The Farmington Pond is a non-drinking water source that runs down into Farmington Bay.
"The water's PH levels are normal and will not harm any wildlife.
Initial tests reveal this is the same type of dye that is used to check
water flow and is environmentally safe. The only issue is that it will
look green for a couple of days, but is not harmful to humans or the
environment."
