Atheist lawmaker outsmarts bible-thumping Arizona Republicans who tried to block his invocation
Mendez, an atheist, asked in early January
to deliver the invocation Monday, when the Secular Coalition of Arizona
would be visiting the Capitol — but his request was denied.
