Today In History
On October 2, 1869, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India. He became the man known as 'Mahatma' (great soul), and is considered the Father of modern India.
Yesterday In History
On October 1st in 1776 Thomas Paine published his "Common Sense" pamphlet.
For those who do not know who he was, you might remember his most famous quote:
Give me liberty or give me death!
A sentiment that rings true today among 'real' patriots and no those squatting in the White House and their sycophants and supporters are NOT real patriots!

Sage Wisdom Has It
A consensus means that everyone agrees to say collectively what no one believes individually.
Say it ain't so.

Just when you'd think all the nausea from the "Brady Bunch" had gone away you find out that Marsha was 'doing' Jan.
I don't know about you but I didn't need to know about that - personally don't care how they got their teenage jollies, just didn't need to know that.
But I guess Maureen (aka Marsha) needs to promote her new book somehow.
Tis Faire Tyme
It is RenFaire time again. Opening cannon is this next Saturday at 10AM. Now is the time all the hard work and long hours pay off.
Seven weekends of people trying to speak with enough of an English accent to pass for bad actors.
That is why I speak with my own Scots accent (O.K. so I do 'thicken' the Brogue a wee bit for the masses - too many preachers around here to bother conjugating Thee and Thou correctly anyway ... I can and could, but why bother?!).
Com' th' morn o'th' dae me bea see'n ye tae faire an' saf' hom' agin'. Till me see ye anon, hale an' farewell.

Daily Word
Today's Daily Word is:
Bienseance (bee -n - say - in - sense) n and a - Decorum; propriety.
From French, common usage in the latter 18th and early 19th centuries
From French, common usage in the latter 18th and early 19th centuries
It's that time again.

It's that time again ... the Autumn Leaf Change.
The time of year when our mountains are painted with beautiful colors and the Yankees invade in droves. Cooler temperatures and wafting breezes greet all that visit the area to see the leaves and get some Apple cider fresh from the cast iron and oak press by the side of the road.
The Mrs., and I are going to be among the throngs this year - usually we stay at home and watch the change in our own trees, but this year we decided to be at one with the multitude.
If you have never been to the Appalachians during the fall of the year you have missed one of life's most wonderful times. You might want to change that.

War Hawks Win
My grandson's team beat the Indians tonight in a barn burner!
Final 37 to 28.
Despite the coach being an idiot the team played and won no thanks to his bone head play calling.

This Day In History
On this day, September 27th, 1830 the Choctaw Indians ceded their lands east of the Mississippi River to the United States in the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek.
20,000 Choctaws were removed and sent west, alone with as many Cherokee, Catawba, Creek, and Cree the United States could round up - using the Dancing Rabbit Creek "treaty" as a pretext.
7,000 survived the 'march' to what is now Oklahoma on what is known as The Trail of Tears.

Declining Dollar
The US Dollar is at the lowest point it has been in 31 years.(The last time there was a stumbling fool in the Whitehouse - Gerald Ford).
The last time a dollar was actually worth a dollar was nearly fifty years ago but it has always stood strong against all foreign currencies ... until now - six plus years of the cabal and our nation is ruined morally, physically, ideologically, and financially.
Quite a feat for the world's largest lender nation
to become the world's largest debtor nation isn't it!?
O.K., so the transition was occurring prior to the last six years ... it has been the last six years that have propelled the change at hyper-speed as a final push to what was started in 1981 - the last time we owed more than we loaned.
Hospital Tech must have been hungry.
Indianapolis, IN:

A three year old boy (pictured), was getting a blood test to test for lead due to the toy recalls when the technician drawing the blood took a bite out of him. You heard me, took a bite out of him.
The hospital discharged the tech (and should fire the subcontracting firm she actually works for), and are 'reviewing' procedures.
A police report was filed.

There has been a mistrial.
Hollywood, CA:
Just in case anyone is still paying attention the judge in the Phil Spector murder trial has declared a mistrial and Phil is a free man until or if the prosecutors bring new evidence and seek a new trial.

This will put you off BBQ for a while!
Maiden, NC:
Imagine finding a smoker BBQ like you always wanted - at an antique auction and real cheap - you'd be ecstatic right?!
That is just what a man in Maiden, NC felt when he found a smoker BBQ at just such a place.
Then he looked inside when he got it home.
Inside was a severed human foot with a large part of the lower leg still attached to it.
Needless to say the man called police, who came and took the foot and began an investigation as to why the smoker BBQ had a human foot in it and whose foot it was.
That investigation is on going.
Now, even I don't want to eat BBQ for a while ...
