Police have charged a grocery store butcher in North Carolina with murder after a man who dated his ex-girlfriend was shot and killed in the store.
Multiple media outlets reported Thursday the shooting occurred between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. at a Piggly Wiggly supermarket in Laurinburg, about 100 miles south of Raleigh near the South Carolina border.
The suspect's name hasn't been released.
Detective Chris Young says three customers and 10 employees were in the store when the shooting occurred. No one else was hurt.
Young says the victim was shot several times after a confrontation and staggered to the front of the store where he collapsed near a checkout counter.
