Pink Swastika Author to be Tried for Crimes Against Humanity

Lunatic Fringe
Scott Lively claims he is being persecuted for persecuting LGBT persons, but he thinks his own crimes are excused by the bible…
scott-lively
Scott Lively, the bigoted shill who penned the bilious collection of lies in The Pink Swastika (1995), and who earlier this year claimed that marriage equality caused Noah’s flood, is in trouble: he is facing charges of committing international crimes against humanity by inciting the persecution of the LGBT community in Uganda.
The connection between Lively and various Evangelical groups and anti-gay laws in Uganda is well-documented:
The charges were filed in 2012 by the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) and Sexual Minorities of Uganda (SMUG). On Wednesday, a federal judge denied a motion to dismiss those charges.
Justice demands the trial go forward: It was one of Lively’s contacts in Uganda who proposed the kill-the-gays bill.
Lively, who is president of Abiding Truth Ministries and director of Redemption Gate Mission Society, is, of course, feeling all persecuted for, well…persecuting people. He claims the lawsuit “boils down to nothing more than an attempt to define my biblical delusions against homosexuality as a crime.”
Well, let’s see: Lively says his biblical delusions of homosexuality make homosexuality a crime (the actual bible is much less clear on the subject). Coincidentally, murdering or inciting the murder of people for any reason whatsoever is, in most places, a crime. It certainly is a crime in international law, as is the genocidal legislation Lively pushed in Uganda.
This is real simple: If you want to kill people for violating your biblical delusions, that is a crime, not a violation of your First Amendment rights of free speech.
If Lively is truly concerned about legalities, I’m not sure what he has to be upset about.
But eager to be martyred as any aberrochristian alive today, and true to the old credo that there is no crime for those who have christ, he says instead, “Clearly, this lawsuit is intended not only to silence me as an effective voice of opposition to the ‘gay’ agenda, it is also to intimidate everyone else who would dare to follow my example.”
No, Mr. Lively, it’s to keep bigots like you from inciting the murder of people simply because you don’t approve of their sexual orientation. You can’t get away with murdering them here so you thought you’d incite a little murder in Uganda.
What’s funny is that Lively thinks its criminal to, as he sees it, discriminate against him, but it’s perfectly alright to enact legislation to discriminate against LGBT persons. His “First Amendment Supremacy Clause” set to be introduced by Sally Kern in Oklahoma, says,
In no circumstance shall sexual orientation regulations superseded the First Amendment rights of individuals, churches and religious organizations to freedom of speech and the free exercise of religion. For the purpose of this statute religious organizations are those whose policies or culture are substantially influenced by religious values, including but not limited to christian bookstores, adoption agencies, hospitals, businesses, social organizations and student clubs on college campuses.
You remember crazy old windbag Sally Kern, who wrote a book about being stoned, and no, not the good kind of stoning, but about being persecuted for…coincidences of coincidences, persecuting people!
It might be observed (by any reasonable observer, that is) that Lively thinks it’s okay to persecute others but not okay to be persecuted where First Amendment rights are concerned, which, of course, makes no sense. The First Amendment protects the free speech of ALL Americans equally.
No, says Lively:
It is our right as christians to speak the lies of the bible, and to operate in religious liberty. The First Amendment was designed to protect the speech and acts of christian citizens.
Oh, I must have missed where the First Amendment says it applies only to christian citizens. Mr. Lively, you’ve been reading too much David Barton. Get your head right.
In 2009, at an anti-gay conference in Uganda, Lively said that gays and lesbians have genocidal tendencies. That speech triggered a witch-hunt in Uganda, which doubtless tickled Lively down to his toes.
Yet it seems to be Lively pushing the genocide. Of course, he was referring to his theory that the Nazis were gay. The thing is, if his theory holds water, then christians like him are and have been gay, because christianity through most of its history, tallied up quite a rap sheet where murder and genocide are concerned, not to mention torture.
Lively claims that gays want special rights, but what Lively actually wants is to be the recipient of special rights to put biblical (Mosaic) law above the Constitution, a Constitution that says, quite clearly, that there shall be no laws that establish religion – and that includes yours, Mr. Lively.
