Bomb scare after discovery of stick wrapped in paper with dynamite written on it
A stick wrapped in paper which had the word 'dynamite' written on it
caused a bomb scare at a petrol station. An Army disposal team was
called while police cordoned off the garage after a member of staff
found the item.
But when explosives experts examined the stick, it was found not to be
explosive. A police spokesman said officers were called to the Esso
garage, in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, at 1pm on Sunday.

"They arrived and, when they examined the item, it turned out to be a stick,
wrapped in brown paper which had the word 'dynamite' written on it. By
the time this had happened and the team had left the scene, the cordon
was then lifted. That was at 2.45pm."
