Frank Mills, the co-owner of Harbor Crab Company Restaurant and Marina
in Patchogue, Long, Island, New York, thought that his restaurant might
have been robbed when he received a call on Thursday morning stating
that the front window of his restaurant was smashed.
Upon arrival he discovered the intruder to be a deer
that was being held captive by two of his employees, who had had to wrestle the animal to the ground and tie it with an electrical cord.
"This wasn't a tiny little thing," Mills said. Suffolk police and town
animal control officers arrived minutes later. After making sure the
deer wasn't hurt, it was released.
Mills said the deer had smashed through a front window and was trying to
break through one in the rear when it was caught. In the meantime, the
animal caused a few thousand dollars' worth of interior damage,
including ripped upholstery.
