Steak thief led police on high-speed chase

Police officers in Texas apprehended a suspect, who is accused of stealing steaks from a store, following a high-speed car chase.
The pursuit began after the suspect allegedly stole steaks from Walmart in Longview shortly after 11am on Wednesday. When police attempted a traffic stop, the suspect fled through two East Texas counties, topping 100 mph, and was finally apprehended by Upshur County deputies.
"It appears that there’s steaks and meats of some sort flying out the windows, and one of them bounced off my patrol car. That’s not something you think of people stealing, especially running from the police in the process. Today was a new one," said East Mountain patrol sergeant Marc Nichols.

Finally stopped, Nichols pulled his gun on the suspect who surrendered without a fight, but Nichols finds nothing funny about the chase, where someone could have been hurt. "There is always the unknown. As he comes up on traffic , we have no idea how they will respond, no way to react until it happens," added Nichols.

Woman arrested after Stormtrooper attack on boyfriend

A Florida woman was arrested after police allegedly witnessed her striking her boyfriend with a Stormtrooper figure.

Leny Alagao, 26, was arrested on April 10 after Port St. Lucie police reported seeing her use the plastic figure to hit her live-in boyfriend. Police were dispatched at about 7:45pm to a “reported disturbance.”
Investigators went to the back of the home and saw Alagao strike her boyfriend with an approximately 2-foot-tall Stormtrooper figure. Police saw a broken glass plate on the ground and “disarray inside the bedroom.”
Alagao said she was mad at her boyfriend, but didn’t mean to hit him. The boyfriend said he didn’t want to press charges. Alagao, of Port St. Lucie, was arrested on a battery charge. She was taken to the St. Lucie County Jail.

Naked man accused of breaking into home and destroying $50,000 worth of property

A naked man from Rochester Hills, Michigan, allegedly caused about $50,000 damage to a Bloomfield Township home before police interrupted his rampage earlier this month, authorities said. Bloomfield Township police were dispatched to a home at 3pm on April 10, according to a report released on Thursday. Inside, they found Daniel Elliot, 53, a former family member who had allegedly broken into the home while the family were on vacation.
“Furniture was turned over and damaged, china was smashed, doors were broken, and several faucets were broke, causing the rooms to flood,” Bloomfield Township Police Det. Sgt.John Weise said. Weise said the amount of damage suggested Elliot had been in the home for a “significant amount of time.”
The $50,000 damage figure is a “rough estimate,” he said. Weise didn’t speculate about why Elliot had taken off his clothes. Elliot was arrested at the scene. He was arraigned on Wednesday on charges of second-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of property. He remains in the Oakland County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Man accused of stalking ex-girlfriend and humping stop sign

A Florida man is accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend and humping a stop sign in front of her home, police say.

David Smith, 58, of St. Petersburg, is facing stalking charges. According to police, on the nights of April 10-13 Smith walked on foot to the victim's home and dumped trash before walking off.
Police say on the night of April 13 an officer witnessed Smith dumping the trash. The incident were also recorded on camera at the victim's residence, an arrest affidavit states.
Police say earlier in the day a witness saw Davis start humping a stop sign in front of the woman's home while pointing at the woman's home and laughing.

Half-bearded man accused of possessing marijuana

A Florida man has been arrested for allegedly possessing marijuana.

Kevin Gibson, 58, was arrested in Miami-Dade County on Wednesday night.
Gibson appeared in his mugshot sporting only half a beard.

He is being held in a Miami jail in lieu of $8,000 bond.

Hoarder kept body of sister in home for five months

A long-dead woman was found inside a purported hoarder's home in Oregon and authorities are talking to the woman's sister about the circumstances of her death. The sheriff's office in La Pine, said medics responded to the home for a woman who had broken her arm. Paramedics noticed a strong odor coming from the house.

Detectives questioned the woman at the hospital. Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Capt. John Bocciolatt said, "Basically admitted that her sister had died five months ago, and was in the house and she was relieved that this day was coming ... had arrived." Bocciolatt says investigators were on scene collecting evidence over the weekend.

Investigators say the sister was scared to call authorities. Bocciolatt said, "She became fearful, didn't know what to do and started drinking and just left her sister there." He added, "I don't know if it was due to neglect, I know there is obviously a hoarding situation going on there ... I just, I don't know what goes through a person's head."

A neighbor, who does not wish to be identified, says he noticed a smell coming from the home, but thought it was a dead animal. He says the sister would never come out of the home. "I knew she would take care of her sister, but I have never seen her sister," he said. "Not even once." Investigators say there are no signs of foul play, but they are treating the death as suspicious. Bocciolatt said, "We want to make sure that we handle this as a homicide until proven differently."

Warning issued after man sitting on toilet was bitten on the posterior by a rat

People in County Cork, Ireland, have been advised to watch their backsides after a man in the Midleton area was bitten by a rat while sitting on the toilet. On Monday, Councillor Noel Collins reported the incident to Cork County Council during a Southern Area Meeting, after asking them to investigate the possibility of flushing rat poison through the sewer system.
“Recent flooding resulted in another problem for residents, that of rat infestation, which really upset many families, mentally and physically, and indeed, one elderly gentleman suffered a rat bite to his posterior while using his toilet, and had to receive immediate medical attention,” he said.
A plumber found a broken sewer pipe nearby, which is believed to have allowed the rat to enter the system. The council warned that flushing rat poison through the public system could lead to contamination of other water sources, but said that Irish Water are responsible for vermin control within the system. Cllr Collins added: “I would advise homeowners to keep their toilet seats down when not in use, and to watch their posteriors.”

Students arrested after stolen turkey found smelling of beer

Two lacrosse players at Chapman University in California have been arrested after the disappearance of a turkey from Orange High School’s agricultural area prompted an animal cruelty investigation, police said on Tuesday.

The turkey was last seen at 5pm on Saturday, but when students went to tend to farm animals at the campus at 7am on Sunday, the turkey was missing, according to the Orange Police Department.
Then, at about 5pm on Sunday, Orange County Animal Care received a report from a resident in Orange who had discovered a turkey. “Tim,” an American heritage Slate turkey, was found with his feathers missing or cut off, police said. A school official said the turkey smelled of beer. He had trouble breathing, along with multiple other injuries.
He is being treated at a vet hospital. Steven Thomas Koressel, 23, and Richard Brenton Melbye, 21, were arrested and booked into Orange County jail. They were taken into custody on Monday on suspicion of theft and released early on Tuesday on their own recognizance. It's not known what happened to the turkey, or how his feathers went missing, police Sgt. Phil McMullin said.
